Flextronics Announces Departure Of Chief Financial Officer

Singapore—3 May 2013—Flextronics (NASDAQ: FLEX) announced that effective today, Paul Read, chief financial officer, has decided to leave the Company to pursue new opportunities, but will remain available for any necessary transitional activities through the end of the current quarter. Christopher Collier, who has served as an officer of the Company since 2005, and chief accounting officer since 2007, has been appointed chief financial officer effective immediately.

I would like to personally thank him for his many years of service and the significant and positive impact he has had on the business. Innovator, Firefighter, or Ghost? Cisco Global Survey Reveals Insight into IT's Impact on the Business

San Jose, CA—8 May 2013—As businesses increase the number of new application rollouts and create new connected user experiences to better serve their customers, IT organizations face the challenge of expanding network services and aligning their network strategies to meet the requirements of the business. A global study announced today by Cisco revealed that while the majority (63 percent) of IT professionals is confident in their ability to respond to the needs of the business, almost a third (27 percent) still equated the visibility of their IT department into their company’s business initiatives to a foggy day in London.

The 2013 Cisco Global IT Impact Survey provides insight into IT’s role as a business enabler, assesses the extent by which network investments are keeping pace with the demands of the business, and looks into IT’s likelihood to adopt new technologies that can increase IT business impact.

White Paper: Sprint Improved Packaging Sustainability 55 Percent in Three Years

Overland Park, KS—8 May 2013—According to a recently published white paper, Sprint [NYSE: S] has made drastic improvements in the environmental impact of its device packaging. The paper, The Evolution of Greener Device Packaging at Sprint, closely examines the impacts of Sprint-branded device packaging from 2009 to 2012.

The white paper was co-authored by Rory Bakke, president of Sustainable Concepts Studio and leading environmental consulting firm Quantis International, which performed a full Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) for three generations of Sprint device packages. The report underscores Sprint’s commitment to understanding and managing the environmental performance of the full spectrum of its products, packaging and services.

Microsoft picks Amy Hood as chief financial officer

8 May 2013-Microsoft promoted Amy Hood to chief financial officer Wednesday, replacing Peter Klein, who announced plans to leave the software giant last month.

Hood, 41, joined Microsoft in 2002 and worked most recently as the chief financial officer of Microsoft’s Business Division, a job she held for a little more than 3 years. There, she handled financial strategy for the $24.1 billion unit and was deeply involved in the acquisitions of both Skype and Yammer. Prior to that job, Hood was chief of staff in Microsoft’s Server and Tools group.
