Wow – the RLA Conference & Expo is back as “the best ever”. This was said by so many of you at the event, in your notes to us, and in our surveys. All of us at the revitalized RLA feel honored at the largest turnout in many years, especially when I opened the Conference and ask the first-time attendees to stand in the room, and two-thirds of you rose! The hard work of the RLA entire team over the last few months made the event work. Your support and active participation made this event great.

I am extremely proud of the response by the industry toward our original approach for a content driven Conference. We had 4 of the most eloquent keynote speakers who spoke with such passion and commitment about the Circular Economy and new ways to be a part of it. If you were there, you felt something when the keynote speakers addressed the audience. If you could not be there, you can download their presentations online and learn a lot about the Circular Economy.

In addition to the keynotes, we were able to present 12 panel sessions with industry relevant topics and many new voices speaking to the many new attendees about the ways their companies are addressing best practices in many areas (recycling, mobility, trade-ins, etc.). There were also presentations on artificial intelligence (AI) in returns processing and innovative technology in pallets. According to many attendees at the Conference, our goal to deliver highest quality information to our industry was accomplished.

The 2018 RLA Conference is over, and the bar has been raised by those who spoke, and those who participated. The RLA will now look to deliver regular Industry Committee meetings for at least the 5 identified top areas of reverse logistics interest. And there will be RLA Seminar events by Committees and in cities with related facilities for tours and strong presenters. Finally, we have already begun to plan for the 2019 RLA Conference, and we will be back in Las Vegas in February.

Words are not adequate to convey the feelings of gratitude I have for all of you who made this work. The RLA Advisory Board, the Partners, the Sponsors, the Exhibitors, and My Team all contributed to the success of this event, and they can’t be thanked enough.

Thank You All!
